Those pesky digraphs.....when two letters make only one sound like ph, ch, sh, kn, wh. They can be SO tricky for some kids! When it comes to digraphs repetition is key!

My favorite way to expose students to digraphs AND make it fun is through partner games! Here are three of my favorite partner games for digraph practice:

Roll and Read Games

Roll and read games are the BEST because there isn't any cutting for you to do! Simply print, provide dice, and you're good to go! Students won't need a lengthy explanation to play either!

These roll-and-read games below are also connected to a decodable reading passage filled with digraphs! Click here to check them out!

Connect Four

Who doesn't love a classic game of connect four? Simply have your students use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to shade in each bubble they read. The first one to connect four in any direction wins! Those fun stamp markers would also be a fun option here!

Card Drop Race

This game is simple but I haven't met a kid out there who doesn't like it. Best of all it's universal in that you can use it for anything....letter naming, spelling, multiplication facts, etc.

Simply write or print out digraph words on index cards or do several to a sheet and cut. Have your partner pair toss the cards in the air. Next, have one student time the other on how fast they can pick up all the cards reading the words on each card as they go. The partners trade and see who has the fastest time.

I hope your students have so much fun practicing their digraphs!
